2UZ-FE ENGINE MECHANICAL: ENGINE ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE Removal

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some system need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER Replacement

4. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

5. DRAIN ENGINE OIL Replacement

6. REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY






(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the hood support assembly while releasing the 2 clips.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
CAUTION: Remove the hood support assembly while supporting the hood by hand.

(b) Remove the 4 bolts and hood.
7. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH Removal

8. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH Removal

9. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH Removal

10. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH Removal

11. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

12. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

14. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal







15. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY WITH AIR CLEANER HOSE
(a) Disconnect the air flow meter connector.
(b) Separate the wire harness.
(c) Disconnect the vacuum hose and No. 2 ventilation hose.
(d) Loosen the air cleaner hose clamp.
(e) Remove the 2 bolts and air cleaner with air cleaner hose assembly.
16. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the radiator assembly Removal.
17. REMOVE EFI FUEL PIPE CLAMP Removal







18. DISCONNECT NO. 2 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Pinch the retainer as illustrated, and then pull the fuel tube connector out of the pipe.
NOTICE:
- Remove any dirt and foreign matter from the fuel tube connector before performing this work.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign matter onto the parts when disconnecting, as the fuel tube connector has the O-rings that seals the pipe.
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the nylon tube.
- Protect the disconnected part by covering it with a vinyl bag after disconnecting the fuel tube.
- If the fuel tube connector and pipe are stuck, push and pull to release them.





19. DISCONNECT NO. 1 FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Pinch the retainer as illustrated, and then pull the fuel tube connector out of the pipe.
NOTICE:
- Remove any dirt and foreign matter from the fuel tube connector before performing this work.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign matter onto the parts when disconnecting, as the fuel tube connector has the O-rings that seals the pipe.
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the nylon tube.
- Protect the disconnected part by covering it with a vinyl bag after disconnecting the fuel tube.
- If the fuel tube connector and pipe are stuck, push and pull to release them.

20. DISCONNECT VACUUM HOSE ASSEMBLY Removal







21. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE B
(a) Disconnect the inlet heater water hose B.






22. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE B
(a) Disconnect the outlet heater water hose B.






23. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE C
(a) Disconnect the outlet heater water hose C.






24. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE C
(a) Disconnect the inlet heater water hose C.






25. DISCONNECT NO. 2 AIR INJECTION SYSTEM HOSE
(a) Disconnect the No. 2 air injection system hose.
26. SEPARATE ENGINE WIRE





(a) Disconnect the clamp and ECM connector.






(b) Disconnect the 5 connectors.






(c) Disconnect the air pump connector and remove the bolt and connector bracket.






(d) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.






(e) Remove the nut and disconnect the wire from the positive (+) battery terminal.
(f) Disconnect the positive (+) battery terminal.
(g) Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
(h) Disconnect the 4 air injection control driver connectors.
(i) Remove the nut and disconnect the wire from the engine room junction block.
(j) Disconnect the 3 connectors from the engine room junction block.
27. SEPARATE COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY Removal

28. SEPARATE VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY Removal

29. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY Removal

30. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and water by-pass pipe.
31. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)
(a) Remove the automatic transmission assembly Removal.
32. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
(a) Remove the automatic transmission assembly .
33. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND RING GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY






(a) Using SST, hold the crankshaft.

(b) Remove the 8 bolts, front drive plate spacer, drive plate and rear drive plate spacer.
34. REMOVE OIL COOLER TUBE






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and oil cooler tube.
35. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY






(a) Attach an engine sling device and hang the engine with a chain block.
(b) Remove the 4 engine mounting insulator bolts.
(c) Lift the engine out from the vehicle slowly and carefully.
NOTE: Make sure the engine is clear of all wiring, hoses and cables.

36. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR TUBE Removal

37. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal

38. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

39. REMOVE NO. 3 AIR INJECTION SYSTEM HOSE Removal

40. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE Removal

41. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal

42. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH Removal

43. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND
(a) Install the engine onto an engine stand with the bolts.
