Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B)
• Socket and key (T40031)
Procedure
- Unclip mounting frame for selector lever boot - 1 - from center console and lift it upward and off - arrows -.
- Place selector lever in position "D".
- Through opening - arrow - in shift mechanism, loosen bolt on selector lever cable approximately one turn using Socket (T40031).
• Loosen the clamping bolt approximately one turn. Do not remove it.
• Clamping bolt is only accessible in selector lever position "D".
• Selector lever must remain in position "D" while clamping bolt is loose.
- Carefully move selector lever lightly toward front and rear without shifting into another selector lever position, this releases the tension on the selector lever cable.
- Check exact position of selector lever in position "D" by pushing selector lever lightly towards driver's seat.
• Do not touch selector lever during the adjustment.
- Without touching selector lever, tighten clamping bolt in this position using socket and key (T40031), tightening torque => [ Selector Lever Cable Assembly Overview ] Description and Operation.
- Check shift mechanism => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] 01J Continuously Variable Transmission.
• Using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B) it is possible to compare the position of the Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch (F125) with the position on the selector lever.
• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B) connected, "OBD", Vehicle System "02 - Transmission Electronics", Function "Measured Values, Display Group 2" selected.
- Compare display in field - 1 - to the position on the selector lever.
If shift mechanism does not function properly after adjusting selector lever cable:
- Bring selector lever cable into basic setting => [ Selector Lever Cable, Bringing into Basic Setting ] Selector Lever Cable, Bringing into Basic Setting.
