Oil Pan Overview
1 Bolt
• 5 Nm
• To the intake manifold.
2 Oil Dipstick
• Oil level must not be above the Max. mark!
• Marks, refer to => [ Oil Dipstick Markings ] Description and Operation.
3 Guide Tube
• For the oil dipstick
• Secured by a bolt- item 1 - to intake manifold
4 Cylinder Block
• Removing and installing sealing flange and dual-mass flywheel => [ Dual Mass Flywheel ] Dual Mass Flywheel.
• Crankshaft, removing and installing, refer to => [ Crankshaft Overview ] Crankshaft Overview.
• Piston and connecting rod overview. Refer to => [ Pistons and Connecting Rod Overview ] Pistons and Connecting Rod Overview.
5 Oil Check Valve
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Check Valve, Removing and Installing ].
• Note the installed position.
• Clean if badly contaminated
6 Bolt
• 8 Nm
7 Oil Pump Drive Cover
8 O-ring
• Replace
• Coat with oil before installing
9 Oil Pump Drive
10 Intermediate Shaft
11 Oil Spray Jet
• For crankshaft bearing 2 to 7
• For piston cooling
• Opening pressure: 2.0 bar pressure
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Spray Nozzle, Removing and Installing ].

12 Input Shaft
• For oil pump drive
13 Oil Pump
• Oil pump - assembly overview, refer to => [ Oil Pump Overview ] Service and Repair.
14 Bolt
• 8 Nm
• Insert using locking fluid (D 000 600 A2)
15 Bolt
• 23 Nm
16 Oil Drain Plug
• 30 Nm
• Replace if washer is permanent
17 Oil Pan
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Oil Pan.
18 Oil Level Thermal Sensor (G266)
• Not on USA vehicles
19 Bolt
• 12 Nm
20 Bolt
• 23 Nm
21 Oil Filter Bracket
• Oil filter bracket overview. Refer to => [ Oil Filter Bracket Overview ] Oil Filter Bracket Overview.
• Coolant hose connection diagram. Refer to => [ Coolant Hose Connection Diagram ] [1][2]Cooling System.
22 Seal
• Replace
• Lubricate before assembling.
23 Bolt
• 10 Nm
• Insert using locking fluid (D 000 600 A2).
24 Baffle Plate
25 Bolt
• Replace
• 8 Nm
26 Seal
• Replace if damaged
Oil Spray Nozzle, Removing and Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• 4 mm diameter drift
• 6 mm diameter drift
• The oil spray jets are installed in crankshaft bearings 2 to 7.
Removing
- Using a 4 mm diameter drift, press the oil spray jet toward the engine bearing and out.
Installing
- To install, press the oil spray jet - arrow - in by hand using a 6 mm diameter drift.
Oil Check Valve, Removing and Installing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• M8 x 1.5 Bolt
Removing
- Install a standard M8 x 1.5 bolt approximately 4 turns into the valve - arrow - and remove the valve from the bore.
Installing
- Lubricate the O-ring with oil before installing. Press the valve by hand into the oil passage.
