Oil Pick Up/Strainer: Service and Repair

OIL PUMP SCREEN AND PICKUP TUBE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - 3.0L

Removal

CAUTION:During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material (including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces) that enters the oil passages or the oil pan may cause engine failure.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. See Lifting.

2. Remove the oil pan. See - Oil Pan Removal/Installation.





3. Remove the bolts, nut and the oil pump screen and pick-up tube.

- Remove and discard the O-ring seal.

Installation

1. Install a new O-ring seal on the oil pump screen and pickup tube.

- Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil.





2. Install the oil pump screen and pickup tube.
a. Position the oil pump screen and pick up tube.

b. Install the bolts and tighten to 10 Nm {1.0 kgf-m, 89 in-lbf}.

3. Install the oil pan. See - Oil Pan Removal/Installation.
