Automatic Transmission Fluid Oil Pan
Removing
• General repair notes. Refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.
• Rules for cleanliness when working on the DSG transmission. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
- Remove noise insulation - 1 - and - 2 -. Refer to => Body Exterior 66 Description and Operation.
- Remove nut - 1 - for the power steering hydraulic oil line.
CAUTION!
The suspension components could be damaged.
• Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, the steering gear or the subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and the subframe crossbrace.
- Draining the ATF. Refer to => [ ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair ] ATF, Draining or Filling after Repair.
CAUTION!
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.
• Do not start the engine when there is no ATF in the transmission.
- Loosen bolts - 1 through 15 - diagonally.
- Remove ATF oil pan.
• Ignore - arrows -.
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
• Replace the bolts and gasket for the ATF oil pan.
- Clean sealing surfaces.
- Insert the knobs - arrow - from the new gasket - 2 - into the ATF oil pan - 1 -.
- Attach the gasket and clips - 3 - to the ATF oil pan.
- Clean the magnets - arrows - in the ATF oil pan.
- Make sure the magnets completely contact the depressions in the ATF oil pan.
- Tighten the ATF oil pan bolts => [ ATF oil pan, tightening specification and sequence ] Description and Operation
- Top off ATF. Refer to => [ ATF, Checking Level and Correcting ] Procedures.
