Procedure
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Windshield Washer System Assembly Overview ] Windshield Washer System Assembly Overview.
• The hood must be closed if the windshield wiper will run during the procedure. Otherwise, the voltage supply to the wiper motors will be interrupted.
- Remove wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Service and Repair.
- Switch on ignition.
- Activate one-touch wiping and let wiper motor run to end position.
• Every second time the wiper motor is switched off, it returns the wiper arms to a slightly lower rest position, thus tipping the wiper blade lips the other way.
• To do so, the wiper motor moves the wiper arms farther down than to rest position and then a bit up again. This lower rest position must not be used to adjust the wiper crank.
• Only use end position where wiper arms run directly end position with no understroke. Activate one-touch wiping again if necessary.
- Turn off the ignition.
- Position wiper arm with wiper blade installed at wiper axles and align wiper blade at windshield as follows:
• Dimension - a - = 20 + 10 mm.
• Dimension - b - = 5 + 10 mm.
• The dimensions indicate the gap between the wiper blade tips to black cowl grille at lower edge of windshield.
- Tighten wiper arm nuts - arrows -.
- Switch on ignition.
- Operate one-touch wiping and let wiper arms run to end position.
- Turn off the ignition.
- Check adjustment of wiper arms again, correct if necessary.
