Output Shaft: Service and Repair

Right Flange Shaft Ball Bearing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pressure Plate (VW 402)

• Punch (VW 412)

• Thrust Piece (2050)

• Thrust Piece (3118)

• Alignment Fixture (T10030/2)

Removing

- Remove right flange shaft. Refer to => [ Right Flange Shaft ] Right Flange Shaft.

• If the right flange shaft seal will be removed, measure the installation depth of the current seal. Refer to => [ Right Flange Shaft Seal ] Right Flange Shaft Seal.

- Remove the ball bearing together with the adjustment ring and the tapered roller bearing outer race.





Installing

- Press the ball bearing in as far as the stop.





- Insert the adjustment ring.





- Install the tapered roller bearing outer race all the way.

- If necessary, replace the right flange shaft seal. Refer to => [ Right Flange Shaft Seal ] Right Flange Shaft Seal.

- Press the flange shaft in => [ Installing ] Right Flange Shaft and install the circlip.

- Install the flange shaft with the final drive cover. Refer to => [ Final Drive Cover with Right Flange Shaft ] Service and Repair.
