Requirements:

With Engine Code BKW

• Fuel filter unit removed. Refer to --> [ Fuel Filter ] Fuel Filter.

With Engine Code BWF

• Bypass flap with cooler for Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) removed. Refer to --> [ Bypass Flap with Exhaust Gas Recirculation Cooler ] Service and Repair.

Continuation for All

• Upper part of oil filter housing removed. Refer to --> [ Oil Filter Housing Assembly Overview ] Oil Filter Housing Assembly Overview.

• The components illustrated correspond to cylinder bank 1. They are a mirror image of the components for cylinder bank 2.

• In order to be able to remove intake manifold without disassembling the fuel rail, intake manifold bolts must be completely removed.





1 Cylinder head

• Removing and installing, refer to --> [ Cylinder Heads ] Cylinder Heads.

2 Gasket

• Replace.

3 Intake manifold

Intake connection assembly overview:

• Vehicles with engine code BKW, refer to --> [ Intake Connection Assembly Overview ] Intake Connection Assembly Overview.

• Vehicles with engine code BWF, refer to --> [ Intake Connection Assembly Overview ] Intake Connection Assembly Overview.

4 20 Nm

5 Fuel rail

6 8 Nm + 1/4 turn (90°)

• Replace.

7 Seal

• Replace.

8 Connecting piece

• Long.

• For supply.

• Remove and install using pliers (VAS 6275).

9 Connecting piece

• Short.

• For return.

• Remove and install using pliers (VAS 6275).

10 Glow plug, 15 Nm

Cylinder Bank 1

• Glow plugs 1 through 5 (Q10 through Q14).

Cylinder Bank 2

• Glow plugs 6 through 10 (Q15 through Q19).
