2UZ-FE STARTING: STARTER: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL STARTER ASSEMBLY






(a) Connect the starter wire with the nut.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)
(b) Connect the starter assembly connector.
(c) Connect the starter assembly to the cylinder block.
(d) Connect the ground wire with the bolt.
Torque: 17 Nm (173 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)
(e) Install the engine wire protector to the starter with the bolt.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 in-lbf)






(f) Install the starter assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 25 Nm (255 kgf-cm, 18 ft-lbf)
2. INSTALL REAR WATER BY-PASS JOINT






(a) Install the 2 new gaskets to the cylinder head.
HINT: With the flat-bottom of each new gasket facing downward as shown in the illustration, install the 2 gaskets to the engine rear side.





(b) Install the rear water by-pass joint with the 4 nuts.
Torque: 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)
3. INSTALL AIR TUBE






(a) Install a new gasket to the air tube.
(b) Install the air tube with the 3 bolts.
- for bolt A

Torque: 10 Nm (102 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbf)
- for bolt B

Torque: 16 Nm (163 kgf-cm, 12 ft-lbf)
(c) Install the No. 2 air hose with the clip.
4. INSTALL AIR PUMP ASSEMBLY (for Bank 1)
(a) Install the air pump assembly Installation.
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
