Replacement
Removing Caliper Mounting Bolts:
^ Tool Required - J 26900-1 Outside Micrometer
Remove or Disconnect
1. Siphon two-thirds of fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
2. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
3. Tire and wheel assembly.
4. Two caliper carrier bolts.
Suspending Caliper:
5. Lift caliper carrier, along with caliper and pads; suspend with a wire to prevent damage to brake hose.
Measuring Rotor Thickness:
Measure
- Rotor thickness using a J 26900-1.
- If rotor thickness is less than specifications, replace the rotor:
^ Rotor Thickness (Minimum): 15 mm (0.59 inch)
6. Two rotor screws.
7. Rotor from wheel hub. If rotor cannot be removed by hand, install two 8 mm bolts into rotor. Tightening the bolts will force rotor off of wheel hub.
Install or Connect
1. Rotor to wheel hub; secure with two screws.
2. Caliper carrier, with caliper and pads, into position; secure with two caliper carrier bolts.
^ Tighten Caliper carrier bolts to 40-60 Nm (29-43 ft. lbs.).
3. Tire and wheel assembly.
4. Lower vehicle.
Measuring Rotor Thickness:
5. Fill master cylinder fluid reservoir.
