Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Signals powertrain control module engine (PCME) when P/S system pressure increases in conjunction with turning steering wheel.

OPERATION
Switch is ON (shows continuity) when steering wheel is turned and P/S system pressure increases to provide assist.

The steering pressure sensor affects the operation of the following PCME output systems and/or devices:
- A/C relay (A/C cut-off control system) and Condenser fan (LOW speed) relay
- BAC valve (Idle air control valve-idle speed)
