Removal and Installation


REMOVAL

NOTE: The evaporator can not be replaced separately from the housing.

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Perform the Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure, please refer to Heating and Airconditioning/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair
4. Remove the cowl vent panel.






5. Disconnect the vacuum lines.






6. Remove the nuts.






7. Remove the cowl vent drain.






8. Remove the retaining clip.






9. Remove the pin-type retainer.






10. Disconnect the hose.






11. Disconnect the A/C connectors, please refer to Heating and Air Conditioning/Coupler HVAC/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair
12. Remove the dash board. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Removal and Installation, Removal and Installation






13. Remove the nuts.






14. Remove the bolts.






15. Remove the evaporator housing.

CAUTION: Do not spill coolant or refrigerant oil into the vehicle when removing the evaporator housing.

INSTALLATION






1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
