Removal and Installation


REMOVAL

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

1. Remove the steering wheel, please refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair
2. Remove the passenger side air bag module, please refer to Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair






3. Disconnect the antenna in-line connector.






4. Remove the RH instrument panel reinforcement bolt.
5. Close the glove compartment.






6. Remove the utility compartment.
1 Remove the four two part pin-type retainers.
2 Remove the utility compartment.
^ If equipped, disconnect the power point electrical connector.






7. If equipped, disconnect and release the video system console electrical connectors.
8. If equipped, disconnect the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) module electrical connector located on the instrument panel center support.






9. Remove the LH and RH scuff plates.






10. Remove the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.






11. Position the LH and RH front door weatherstrip seals aside.






12. Remove the RH ground bolts.
13. If equipped, remove LH and RH instrument panel lower insulators.






14. Remove the instrument panel lower steering column opening cover.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the instrument panel lower steering column opening cover.






15. Remove the instrument panel opening cover reinforcement.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Remove the instrument panel opening cover reinforcement.






16. Disconnect the LH wiring harness electrical connectors.






17. Disconnect the Restraint Control Module (RCM) electrical connector.
1 Release the locking clip.
2 Disconnect the RCM electrical connector.






18. Disconnect the automatic transmission shift cable.
1 Disconnect the cable from the steering column shift tube lever.
2 Disconnect the cable from the steering column bracket.






19. Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column.
1 Remove the pinch bolt.
2 Separate the intermediate shaft from the steering column.






20. Disconnect the climate control harness electrical connector.






21. Disconnect the climate control vacuum harness connector.






22. Disconnect the fuse junction panel electrical connectors.






23. Remove the LH instrument panel reinforcement bolt.






24. Remove the four instrument panel center support bolts.






25. Remove the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
^ If equipped, disconnect the sunload sensor electrical connector.






26. Remove the cowl top bolts.






27. Remove the RH cowl side bolts.






28. Remove the LH cowl side bolts.
29. Remove the instrument panel.

NOTE: Two technicians are required to carry out this step.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.

1. Install the instrument panel.

NOTE: Two technicians are required to carry out this step.






2. Install the LH cowl side bolts.






3. Install the RH cowl side bolts.






4. Install the cowl top bolts.






5. Install the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
^ if equipped, connect the sunload sensor electrical connector.






6. Install the four instrument panel center support bolts.






7. Install the LH instrument panel reinforcement bolt.






8. Connect the fuse junction panel electrical connectors.






9. Connect the climate control vacuum harness.






10. Connect the climate control harness electrical connector.






11. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column.
1 Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column.
2 Install the pinch bolt.






12. Connect the automatic transmission shift cable.
1 Connect the cable to the steering column bracket.
2 Connect the cable to the steering column shift tube lever.






13. Connect the RCM electrical connector.
1 Connect the RCM electrical connector.
2 Insert the locking clip.






14. Connect the LH wiring harness electrical connectors.






15. Install the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
1 Position the instrument panel steering column opening cover reinforcement.
2 Install the bolts.






16. Install the instrument panel steering column opening cover.
1 Position the instrument panel steering column opening cover.
2 Install the screws.

17. If equipped, install the LH and RH instrument panel lower insulators.






18. Install the RH ground bolts.






19. Install the LH and RH front door weatherstrip seals.






20. Install the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.

NOTE: Verify that the locating tabs at the rear edge of the A-pillar lower trim panels are inserted into the scuff plate attachments.






21. Install the LH and RH scuff plates.

NOTE: Verify that all the clips are installed onto the back side of the scuff plates before installation. Inspect the clips for missing attachments and replace as needed.

22. If equipped, connect the RKE module electrical connector located on the instrument panel center support.






23. If equipped, connect and engage the video system console electrical connectors.






24. Install the utility compartment.
^ If equipped, connect the power point electrical connector.
1 Position the utility compartment.
2 Install the four two-part pin-type retainers.

25. Open the glove compartment.






26. Install the RH instrument panel reinforcement bolt.






27. Connect the antenna in-line connector.
28. Install the passenger side air bag module, please refer to Restraint Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair
29. Install the steering wheel, please refer to Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Wheel/Service and Repair/ Service and Repair
