Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Disconnect Throttle Position (TP) sensor from wiring harness.
4. If reusing TP sensor, scribe alignment marks to position when reinstalling.
5. Remove two retaining screws.
6. Remove TP sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the TP sensor so that the pigtail points toward the throttle body inlet.
2. Secure throttle position sensor to throttle body with two retaining screws. Tighten to 2.4-3.8 Nm (18-34 lb in).
3. Install air cleaner assembly.
4. Connect electrical connector to harness.
5. Reconnect battery negative cable.
