Radiator Lower Mounting Panel Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Remove the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
2. Remove the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement Radiator Replacement.
3. Remove the air inlet scoop.
4. Remove the air charge cooler, if equipped.
5. Remove the air conditioning condenser and the hoses, if equipped. Refer to Condenser Replacement (LG5) Condenser Replacement (LG5)Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) or Condenser Replacement (LG5) Condenser Replacement (LG5)Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) in HVAC.
6. Remove the external engine oil cooler bracket, if equipped.
7. Remove the radiator shutter, if equipped. Refer to Shutter Assembly Replacement Shutter Assembly Replacement.
8. Remove the power steering reservoir, if equipped. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (With JE4) Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (With JE4)Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (with JE3) Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (with JE3) in Power Steering systems.
9. Remove the power steering cooler from the radiator lower mounting panel, if equipped.
10. Remove the radiator side brace nuts and the washers from the radiator lower mounting panel.
11. Remove the radiator side brace bolts from the cowl.
12. Remove the cross member bolts that connect the radiator lower mounting panel to the frame.
13. Remove the radiator lower mounting panel from the vehicle.
14. Remove the insulators from the radiator mounting panels.
15. Remove the hood hinges from the radiator lower mounting panel. Refer to Hood Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
Installation Procedure
1. Rivet the baffles to the radiator lower mounting panel.
2. Install a new set of insulators to the radiator mounting panels.
3. Connect the hood hinges to the radiator lower mounting panel.
4. Install the radiator lower mounting panel into the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
5. Install the cross member bolts that connect the radiator lower mounting panel to the frame.
Tighten the cross member bolts that connect the radiator lower mounting panel to the frame to 260 Nm (192 lb ft).
6. Install the radiator side braces to the radiator lower mounting panel nuts.
Tighten the radiator lower mounting panel nuts to 50 Nm (37 lb ft).
7. Install the nuts that attach the radiator side brace to the cowl.
Tighten the cowl nuts to 90 Nm (66 lb ft).
8. Install the power steering reservoir, if equipped. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (With JE4) Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (With JE4)Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (with JE3) Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle (with JE3) in Power Steering systems.
9. Install the power steering cooler to the radiator lower mounting panel, if equipped.
10. Install the radiator. Refer to Radiator Replacement Radiator Replacement.
11. Install the engine oil cooler bracket, if equipped.
Tighten the engine oil cooler bracket bolts to 6 Nm (53 lb in).
12. Install the air conditioning condenser and the hoses, if equipped. Refer to Condenser Replacement (LG5) Condenser Replacement (LG5)Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) or Condenser Replacement (LG5) Condenser Replacement (LG5)Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) Condenser Replacement (LP4/L21) in HVAC.
13. Install the charge air cooler, if equipped.
14. Install the radiator shutters, if equipped.
Refer to Shutter Assembly Replacement Shutter Assembly Replacement.
15. Install the air inlet scoop to the lower radiator mounting panel.
Tighten the air inlet scoop nut to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
16. Install the hood. Refer to Hood Replacement Service and Repair in Body Front End.
