Coolant Pump
Removing
CAUTION!
Hot steam may escape when opening expansion tank. Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent damage to eyes and scalding. Cover cap with a cloth and open carefully.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Cooling System, Draining and Filling.
- Remove front coolant pipe.
- Separate the electrical connection - 2 - at map controlled engine cooling thermostat (F265).
• Ignore - item 1 -.
- Remove coolant hoses - 1 - and - 2 - from coolant thermostat housing.
- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove thermostat housing.
- Loosen hose clip - 1 - at coolant hose.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove coolant pump housing toward front, pay attention to driveshaft for coolant pump while doing this.
• Coolant hose can only be removed with coolant pump removed.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove coolant pump - 2 - from housing - 1 -.
Installing
• Replace seals and O-rings.
• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate for the model.
- Insert new O-rings - 1 - and - 3 -.
- Insert coolant pump input shaft - 2 - in oil pump mount as far as stop at engine.
- Slide coolant pump into mounts in upper part of oil pan.
• To connect drive flange onto hex of driveshaft, reach with your finger into the lower pipe connection of coolant pump and twist at impeller until coolant pump can be inserted completely.
The rest of the installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Install coolant thermostat housing. Refer to => [ Map Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat ] Service and Repair.
- Install front coolant pipe. Refer to => [ Front Coolant Pipe ] .
- Fill cooling system.
