Fluid Pan: Service and Repair






Oil Pan

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

Torque Wrench (5-60 Nm) (V.A.G 1783)

Removing

- Remove the noise insulation below engine.

- Place the (VAS 6208) underneath.

- Remove the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) inspection plug - A -.

- Remove the overflow tube - C - and allow the remaining ATF to drain.





- Remove the oil pan bolts - arrows - in a diagonal sequence.





- Remove the oil pan together with the gasket.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:

- Clean the two magnets in the oil pan depressions. Ensure that the magnets are in full contact with the oil pan.

- Check the gasket for damage and make sure all of the spacers (quantity: 8) are present.

Otherwise, replace the gasket.

- Install the oil pan and gasket; when doing this be sure not to pinch any wires.

- Make sure the oil pan gasket is properly seated.

- Tighten the oil pan bolts - arrows - in stages and in a diagonal sequence. Refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Fastener Tightening Specifications - Gears, Hydraulic Controls.





- Install the overflow tube - C -. Refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Fastener Tightening Specifications - Gears, Hydraulic Controls.





- Replace the seal - B - for the inspection plug - A -.

- Only hand tighten the inspection plug - A - with new seal - B -.

- Add ATF, check the ATF level and top off if necessary. Refer to => [ Automatic Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling ] Automatic Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling.
