Fluid Pan: Service and Repair
Automatic Transmission Fluid Pan
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip tray (V.A.G 1306)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)
Removing
- Remove noise insulation below engine.
- Place drip tray (V.A.G 1306) underneath.
- Remove ATF inspection plug - A -.
- Remove overflow tube - C - and allow remaining ATF to drain.
- Remove bolts from oil pan - arrows - in diagonal sequence.
- Remove oil pan together with seal.
Installing
Installation is in reverse order of removal. Pay attention to the following:
- Clean two magnets in oil pan recesses. Ensure that the magnets are in full contact with the oil pan.
- Check seal for damage and make sure all of the spacers (quantity: 8) are present.
Otherwise, replace the seal.
- Install oil pan and seal; when doing this be sure not to pinch any lines.
- Make sure oil pan seal is properly seated.
- Tighten oil pan bolts - arrows - in diagonal sequence and in stages, tightening torque => [ Valve Body Tightening Specifications ] Valve Body Tightening Specifications - Gears, Hydraulic Controls.
- Install in overflow tube - C -, tightening torque => [ Valve Body Tightening Specifications ] Valve Body Tightening Specifications - Gears, Hydraulic Controls.
- Add ATF, check ATF level and top off => [ ATF Level, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.
