Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair






Evaporative Emission Canister

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

T Bar and Socket 10 mm (3185)

Removing

- Remove the center and rear mufflers.

- Remove the heat shield fasteners - arrows - and shield.






- For supporting purposes, place the (V.A.G 1383 A) under the rear subframe.

- Loosen the bolts - arrows - for the rear subframe and unscrew them approximately 20 mm.






- Slowly lower the rear subframe using the (V.A.G 1383 A).

- Disconnect the vent lines - A - by pressing the release buttons.






- Remove the bolts - B -.

Use (3185) for this.

- Release the retaining straps in the direction of - arrow A - using a screwdriver. Rotate the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister approximately 90° clockwise in the direction of - arrow B - and remove the EVAP canister.






Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Connect ventilation lines until they engage audibly.

- Install rear axle.
