Mechanical Vacuum Pump
• A mechanical vacuum pump is installed from 11.06.
Removing
- Remove the air guide cover - 1 -, disengage the clips sideways to do so.
- Remove the air duct - 2 -.
- Remove the air filter housing and connecting hose, while doing this remove the bolt - A -, disconnect the connector - B - and remove the spring clip - C -. When reinstalling, observe the mark - D -.
- Disconnect the vacuum line - A -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Carefully remove the vacuum pump from the cylinder head.
• If the seal - item 7 -=> [ Seal ] Mechanical Vacuum Pump Overview for the input shaft remains stuck on, insert it back in the vacuum pump. New vacuum pumps are supplied with seals. Never install 2 seals.
Installing
- Ensure the seal is seated correctly in the vacuum pump.
- Turn the vacuum pump rotor so the flattened sides of the input shaft fit into the rotor.
- Slide the vacuum pump evenly into the hole on the cover until seated.
CAUTION!
If the vacuum pump is pulled out again, the location of the seal must be checked again.
- Tighten the bolts - arrows - and reconnect the vacuum line - A -.

Installed Position, Temporary Seal
Seal - A - must:
• be inserted with the large opening toward the top of the vacuum pump
• seated flush with the chamfer in the rotor
Characteristics of the Vacuum Pump Seal
A Temporary seal, note the installed position when removing and installing.
B Permanent seal, installed position must not be observed.
