Ribbed Drive Belt
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drift (T10060A)
Removing
- Remove noise insulation
- Remove engine cover.
One Piece Engine Cover
Pull the one piece front engine cover - arrows A - upward with a quick jerk and then pull the lower mount - arrow B - forward.
Two Piece Engine Cover
On the two piece engine cover, first pull the outer cover upward with a quick jerk - arrows in the upper illustration -, then pull the inner engine cover upward with a quick jerk - arrows in lower illustration -.
Fuel Filter Without the Retaining Plate
- Release the retainers, pull the fuel filter with connected hoses upward and out of the retaining plate - arrow - and lay it aside.
Fuel Filter With the Retaining Plate
- Loosen the bolt - 1 - one turn.
- Remove the bolt - 2 - and the nut - 3 -.
- Lay the fuel filter, with the hoses still connected, to the side.
Continuation for All
- Mark direction of rotation of ribbed belt.
- Pivot tensioner element in - direction of arrow - to relieve tension on ribbed belt.
- Secure tensioner element using the drift (T10060 A).
- Remove ribbed belt.
Installing
- Installation is performed in reverse order. When doing this note the following:
• Before installing ribbed belt, make sure that all ancillaries (alternator, air conditioner compressor) are secured tightly.
• Note previously marked direction of belt rotation and be sure that it is seated correctly on pulley.
• Set the ribbed belt onto the generator lastly.
After completing repairs always:
- Start the engine and check the running belt.
