Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection

Fuel Injector, checking


Checking operation

- Remove intake housing.
- Start engine and let idle.
- If car does not start, operate starter motor.



^ Spray must be visible on throttle valve
- Switch ignition OFF.
- Check Fuel Injector (N30) for leaks.
^ Not more than 2 drops per minute.


Power supply, checking




- Disconnect harness connector -1- from mating connector -2-.
- Connect US 1115 LED tester to two center terminals of harness connector -1- using jumper wires from VW 1594 adapter kit.
- Operate starter to check power supply for fuel injector.
^ LED must flicker

If NO:
- Perform electrical tests. Pinout Values and Diagnostic Parameters


Injector resistance, checking

- Disconnect harness connector -1- from mating connector -2-.



- Measure resistance of injector at center terminals of connector -2- using Fluke 83 multimeter and jumper wires from VW 1594 adapter kit.
^ 1.2-1.6 Ohms at ambient temperature of 15-30°C (60-86°F)
