Dashboard / Instrument Panel: Service and Repair

Front Storage Trays, Removing





- Disconnect battery ground strap.

- Remove shelf screws (1).

- Remove plastic nuts (2), pull out tray (3).

- Turn rotating clips (4), pull out storage box (6).

• When installing, locating pins (5) must be pushed into trim plate retainers (8).

- Unscrew oval head screw (7).

- Unscrew multi-purpose screws (1) and remove cover (8).

- Remove steering wheel.





- Pry off cover cap (1).

- Remove screws (2) and remove trim plate (3).





- Pry out vents (4) with screwdriver.

- Remove radio or glove box.

Cassette Storage Box, Removing





- Pry off trim plate (5), remove screws (6).

- Pull out cassette storage box (7).

Instrument Panel Trim Plate, Removing





- Pull off temperature control knobs and sliding levers (arrows).

- Pry out trim plate (8), remove heating and ventilation controls.

- Unscrew multi-purpose screws (9) (operating switch removed).

- Unscrew multi-purpose screws (10) and pull out trim plate (11).

- Remove instrument panel cover and steering column switch.





- Pry off left/right caps (12) and unscrew left/right hex head bolts (13).

- Unscrew hex nut (14) (nut is in back of console).

- Unscrew hex nuts (15) (nuts are located in plenum panel and can only be seen with aid of mirror).

- Slightly pull off instrument panel, loosen cables and remove instrument panel.

Instrument Panel, Installing

- Install all components in reverse order of removal procedure, noting the following:

• Push locating pins (5) into retainers (8) (see top image).
