Fuel Injector: Service and Repair




Fuel Injectors, Removing and Installing


Special tools and equipment







- 3047A Extractor tool







- 3277A Installation tool

Removing







- Remove intake manifold complete with lower intake manifold and Throttle Valve Control Module.
- Disconnect all fuel injector harness connectors.
- Remove mounting bolts -1- from lower intake manifold.


NOTE:
- Before loosening, thoroughly clean the area of the in take manifold, lower intake manifold and fuel injectors.
- Do not for any reason use a lever to pry the lower intake manifold away from the intake manifold.
- Remove lower intake manifold (toward arrows) from intake manifold.
- Carefully pull injectors out of intake manifold/lower intake manifold







NOTE: Remove tight-fitting injectors from lower intake manifold using 3047A extractor tool.


Installing


NOTE:
- Replace the fuel injector O-rings. When installing injectors ensure that O-rings are not damaged.
- Lightly coat O-rings with oil before installing.
- Replace gasket between intake manifold and lower intake manifold.
- Install injectors in intake manifold (note installed position).
- Re-attach harness connectors to fuel injectors.







- Install intake manifold lower part onto intake manifold in direction of arrows (when installing intake manifold lower part observe installation position of dowel sleeves).
- Insert mounting bolts -1- and tighten.
Tightening torque: 25 Nm (18 ft lb)
- Install intake manifold with intake manifold lower part and Throttle Valve Control Module (when installing note position of dowel sleeves in cylinder head):
