C1436
BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1436: Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction
C1436 - Yaw Rate Sensor Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is stored when the skid control ECU detects improper installation of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor (for separate type) or yaw rate and acceleration sensor (airbag sensor assembly) (for built-in type) or an abnormality in the difference between the yaw rate sensor value and the control value estimated based on the acceleration sensor, steering angle sensor and speed sensor signals.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CONFIRM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR TYPE
(a) Confirm the yaw rate and acceleration sensor type.
Result:
B -- READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Select the Data List using the Techstream Data List / Active Test.
ABS/VSC/TRAC
(d) Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor output value displayed on the Techstream.
Result:
HINT
If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing parts Problem Symptoms Table.
B -- REPLACE YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR Removal
C -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS How To Proceed With Troubleshooting
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION
(a) Turn the ignition switch off.
(b) Drive the vehicle straight ahead at 50 km/h (31 mph) or more for at least 30 seconds.
(c) Check that the steering wheel is correctly centered while driving straight ahead.
HINT
If front wheel alignment and steering are adjusted as a result of an off-center steering wheel, acquire the yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point again after the adjustments are completed.
OK:
The steering wheel is correctly centered.
NG -- ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT OR STEERING Front Wheel Alignment
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR INSTALLATION
(a) Check that the yaw rate and acceleration sensor has been installed properly Installation.
OK:
The sensor should be tightened to the specified torque.
The sensor should not be installed in a tilted position.
HINT
If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next step before replacing parts Problem Symptoms Table.
NG -- INSTALL YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR CORRECTLY Installation
OK -- REPLACE YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR Removal
