BRAKE: BRAKE BOOSTER: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
Release the vacuum from the booster by depressing the brake pedal several times.

Then remove the brake master cylinder from brake booster.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE:
Immediately wash off any brake fluid that comes into contact with any painted surfaces.

3. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP (for Hatchback) Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP (for Sedan) Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH (for Hatchback) Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH (for Sedan) Removal

7. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH (for Hatchback) Removal

8. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH (for Sedan) Removal

9. REMOVE HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL (for Hatchback) Removal

10. REMOVE COWL SIDE VENTILATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for Sedan) Removal

11. REMOVE COWL SIDE VENTILATOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (for Sedan) Removal

12. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback) Removal

13. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Sedan) Removal

14. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER LH (for Hatchback) Removal

15. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK (for Hatchback) Removal

16. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK (for Sedan) Removal

17. REMOVE COWL TO REGISTER DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback) Removal

18. REMOVE FRONT AIR SHUTTER SEAL (for Sedan) Removal

19. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL (for Hatchback) Removal

20. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL (for Sedan) Removal

21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback) Removal

22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Sedan) Removal

23. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback) Removal

24. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Sedan) Removal

25. REMOVE BATTERY Removal

26. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY

27. REMOVE BATTERY CARRIER Removal

28. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR (w/ VSC) Removal

29. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR (for Hatchback without VSC) Removal

30. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR (for Sedan without VSC) Removal

31. DISCONNECT CLUTCH RESERVOIR TUBE (for Manual Transaxle) Removal

32. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for ABS with VSC) Removal

33. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for ABS without VSC) Removal

34. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/o ABS) Removal

35. SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD CLEVIS Removal

36. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE TUBE (w/o ABS)

(a) Using a union nut wrench, separate the 2 brake tubes from the brake tube No. 1 way.





(b) Using a union nut wrench, remove the brake tube assembly from the proportioning valve.





37. REMOVE BRAKE BOOSTER

(a) Slide the clip and disconnect the vacuum hose from the check valve.





(b) Remove the 4 nuts and remove the brake booster.





(c) Remove the gasket from the brake booster.

(d) Loosen the push rod lock nut and remove the push rod clevis.

38. REMOVE BRAKE VACUUM CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the vacuum check valve from the brake booster.

(b) Remove the grommet from the brake booster.
