EGR Valve: Testing and Inspection
EGR VALVE INSPECTION
1. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP
2. REMOVE EGR VALVE
- Disconnect these hoses from the EGR valve:
(1) Vacuum hose (from EGR valve)
(2) EGR hose (from vacuum modulator)
- Loosen the union nut.
- Remove the 4 nuts, EGR valve, pipe, sleeve ball and the 2 gaskets.
3. INSPECT EGR VALVE
- Check for sticking and heavy carbon deposits.
- If a problem is found. replace the valve.
4. REINSTALL EGR VALVE
- Install a new gasket and the EGR valve with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 30 N.m (300 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
- Install a new gasket, the EGR pipe, new sleeve ball with the 2 nuts and union nut.
Torque:
Nut: 30 N.m (300 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
Union nut: 40 N.m (400 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
- Connect these hoses to the EGR valve:
(1) Vacuum hose (from EGR valve)
(2) EGR hose (from vacuum modulator)
5. REINSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP
