Fuel Pump: Service and Repair
COMPONENTS FOR REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
FUEL PUMP REMOVAL
CAUTION: Do not smoke or work near an open flame when working on the fuel pump.
1. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION
2. REMOVE SERVICE HOLE COVER
3. REMOVE FUEL PUMP AND SENDER GAUGE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connector, pipe and hose:
(1) Fuel pump & sender gauge connector
(2) Fuel outlet pipe
INSTALLATION HINT: Use SST
SST 09631-22020
Torque: 24 N.m (240 Kgf.cm, 17 ft.lbf)
(3) Fuel return hose
INSTALLATION HINT: Check fuel leaks.
- Remove the 8 bolts.
Torque: 3.5 N.m (35 Kgf.cm, 31 in.lbf)
- Remove the fuel pump, sender gauge assembly and gasket.
INSTALLATION HINT: Use a new gasket.
COMPONENTS FOR DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY
FUEL PUMP DISASSEMBLY
1. REMOVE FUEL PUMP FROM PUMP BRACKET
- Remove the lead wire.
- Pull out the lower side of the fuel pump from the pump bracket.
- Remove the rubber cushion from the fuel pump.
- Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel pump, and remove the fuel pump.
2. REMOVE FUEL PUMP FILTER FROM FUEL PUMP
- Remove the clip.
ASSEMBLY HINT: Use a new clip.
- Pull out the pump filter.
3. REMOVE FUEL SENDER GAUGE FROM FUEL PUMP BRACKET
- Disconnect the connector from the fuel pump bracket.
- Remove the 2 screws and sender gauge.
4. REMOVE CONNECTOR
- Remove the 2 screws, connector support. connector and gasket.
ASSEMBLY HINT: Use a new gasket.

ASSEMBLY HINT: Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
