Fuel Pump: Service and Repair



PREPARATION
^ Refer to Fuel Pressure Release Procedure.
Service and Repair
1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.

Location Of Fuel Pump:




2. Remove rear seat cushion.

Fuel Pump Cover Screws:




3. Remove service hole cover.


FUEL PUMP REMOVAL

Fuel Outlet And Fuel Return Hoses:




1. Disconnect fuel tank electrical connector.
2. Disconnect fuel outlet line.
3. Remove fuel return hose.

Fuel Pump Bracket Bolts:




4. Remove 8 pump bracket bolts.

Removal Of Fuel Pump Bracket:




5. Remove fuel pump bracket assembly.


Fuel Pump Bracket Components:




PUMP BRACKET DISASSEMBLY

Fuel Pump And Gauge Sender Wire Connector:




1. Disconnect lead wire to fuel pump.



2. Pull lower side of fuel pump from bracket.
3. Remove rubber pump cushion.
4. Remove fuel line and pump.



5. Using a small screwdriver, remove filter retaining clip.
6. Remove filter.


PUMP BRACKET ASSEMBLY



1. Install the pump filter with a new clip.



2. Connect the fuel hose to the outlet port of the fuel pump.
3. Install the rubber cushion to the fuel pump.
4. Install the fuel pump by pushing the lower side of the fuel pump.

FUEL PUMP INSTALLATION
1. Install fuel pump and fuel gauge sender assembly.
2. Install a new gasket to the fuel pump bracket.
3. Insert the fuel pump and gauge sender assembly into the fuel tank.



4. Install the fuel pump bracket with the 8 bolts.
Torque: 3.5 Nm (31 in lb)
5. Install fuel pump & gauge sender connector.



6. Connect fuel outlet pipe.
Torque: 24 Nm (17 ft lb)
7. Connect fuel return hose.
8. Check for fuel leaks.
9. Install the service hole cover with the 4 screws.
10. Install rear seat cushion.
11. Connect negative (-) terminal cable to battery.
