2UZ-FE COOLING: WATER PUMP: INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL WATER PUMP ASSEMBLY






(a) Install a new O-ring to the water by-pass pipe.
(b) Apply soapy water to the O-ring.
(c) Connect the water pump to the water by-pass pipe end.
(d) Temporarily install the water pump and a new gasket with the 5 bolts, 2 stud bolts and nut. Uniformly tighten the bolts, stud bolts and nut in several passes.
- for Bolt

Torque: 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)
- for Stud bolt, nut

Torque: 18 Nm (183 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)
2. INSTALL INLET WATER HOUSING






(a) Apply seal packing in a continuous line to the places shown in the illustration.
Seal packing:
Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1215B or equivalent
Standard seal diameter:
2.0 to 3.0 mm (0.0787 to 0.118 in.)
- Remove any oil from the contact surface.
- Install the water pump within 3 minutes after applying seal packing.

(b) Apply soapy water to a new O-ring and install it to the water inlet housing.






(c) Temporarily install the water inlet housing with the 2 bolts. Uniformly tighten the bolts in several steps.
Torque: 18 Nm (184 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)
Bolt Length:






(d) Connect the water by-pass hose to the water inlet housing.
3. INSTALL TIMING BELT
(a) Remove the timing belt Installation.
4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf)
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some system need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

5. ADD ENGINE COOLANT Service and Repair

6. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK Testing and Inspection

7. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER Replacement
