VSC OFF Indicator Light Remains ON
DESCRIPTION
When the rear differential is locked or during the 4WD mode, VSC control turns off and the VSC OFF indicator illuminates. Also, the VSC OFF indicator light is ON when the VSC system is in fail-safe control.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
NOTE: When replacing the master cylinder solenoid, perform zero point calibration Programming and Relearning.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Check if DTCs for VSC are recorded Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result:
B -- REPAIR CIRCUITS INDICATED BY OUTPUT DTCS
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK VSC OFF INDICATOR LIGHT
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Check that the VSC OFF indicator light.
Result:
B -- INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (EXI and EXI3 TERMINALS)
A -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - COMBINATION METER)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the combination meter connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
4. INSPECT SKID CONTROL ECU TERMINAL VOLTAGE (EXI and EXI3 TERMINALS)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:
HINT:
- *1: with rear differential lock
- *2: 4WD
Result:
D -- INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION)
C -- INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for 4WD POSITION)
B -- INSPECT REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH
A -- REPLACE MASTER CYLINDER SOLENOID
5. INSPECT REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH
(a) Remove the rear differential lock switch.
(b) Disconnect the rear differential lock switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH - BATTERY)
(a) Disconnect the differential lock switch connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(c) Measure the voltage.
Standard voltage:
NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT)
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH - FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Disconnect the four wheel drive control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the rear differential lock switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. INSPECT REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK INDICATOR SWITCH
(a) Disconnect the rear differential lock indicator switch connector.
(b) Remove the rear differential lock indicator switch.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK INDICATOR SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - RR DIFF LOCK IND SW - 4WD ECU - METER)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the four wheel drive control ECU connector.
(c) Disconnect the rear differential lock indicator switch connector.
(d) Disconnect the combination meter connector.
(e) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
10. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the four wheel drive control ECU connector.
(b) Connect the skid control ECU connector.
(c) Connect the rear differential lock indicator switch connector.
(d) Connect the combination meter connector.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(f) Check that the rear differential lock warning light.
Result:
B -- REPLACE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU
A -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
11. INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for 4WD POSITION)
(a) Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (4WD position) connector.
(b) Remove the transfer indicator switch (4WD position).
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for 4WD POSITION)
OK -- Continue to next step.
12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH - FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU)
(a) Disconnect the four wheel drive control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (for 4WD position) connector.
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - 4WD ECU - A.D.D ACTUATOR - METER)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the four wheel drive control ECU connector.
(c) Disconnect the A.D.D actuator connector.
(d) Disconnect the combination meter connector.
(e) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
14. INSPECT A.D.D ACTUATOR
(a) Disconnect the A.D.D actuator connector.
(b) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE A.D.D ACTUATOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
15. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the four wheel drive control ECU connector.
(b) Connect the skid control ECU connector.
(c) Connect the A.D.D actuator connector.
(d) Connect the combination meter connector.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON.
(f) Check that the 4WD indicator light.
Result:
B -- REPLACE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL ECU
A -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
16. INSPECT TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION)
(a) Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (center differential lock position) connector.
(b) Remove the transfer indicator switch (center differential lock position).
(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (for CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION)
OK -- Continue to next step.
17. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH)
(a) Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the transfer indicator switch (center differential lock position) connector.
(c) Disconnect the combination meter connector.
(d) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
