Diagnostic Chart (Part 1 Of 2):

Diagnostic Chart (Part 2 Of 2):

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The body control module (BCM) uses a key-in-ignition input in order to control certain features in the vehicle. These features are in the following systems:
^ Audible Warnings
^ Automatic Door Locks

The ignition switch switches the key-in-ignition input circuit to ground when the ignition key is fully inserted into the ignition switch. This in turn pulls the BCM key in ignition input low.

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
The BCM must see Ignition 0 Voltage at its proper input.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ The key in ignition switch input is open or shorted to voltage.
^ The condition above must be present for more than 0.3 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The BCM stores DTC B2961 in memory.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ A short to voltage in the key in ignition switch circuit is no longer detected by the BCM.
^ An open in the key in ignition switch circuit is no longer detected by the BCM.
^ A history DTC B2961 will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ A scan tool may be used in order to clear the DTC.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ If the DTC B2961 is a history DTC, the fault may be intermittent.
^ The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction to occur:
- An intermittent short to voltage or open in the key in ignition switch input circuit
- The ignition switch is shorted to voltage or open internally
- The BCM is shorted to voltage or open internally
