CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
This DTC is set when the Body Function Controller (BFC) is in Learn Mode. When the Body Function Controller (BFC) is in Learn Mode and the Ignition Switch is cycled the scan tool will show the Passlock signal toggle.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
All of the following conditions must be met:
^ The Passlock(R) option is enabled.
^ Ignition 0 is active.
^ The Passlock(R) key code has not been learned.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ Stores DTC B3031 in the Body Function Controller (BFC) memory.
^ Vehicle will not start.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The Body Function Controller (BFC) goes to sleep and reinitializes with the fault cleared.
^ All Body Function Controller (BFC) history codes will be cleared after 100 ignition cycles (from OFF to RUN) with no current codes active during the 100 ignition cycles.
^ Using a scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ When the diagnostics direct you to take electrical measurements at the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks , refer to Power Distribution, in Electrical Diagnosis, for terminal assignments of the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks
^ If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Try performing the tests shown while wiggling wiring and connectors, this can often cause the malfunction to appear.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to the numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step determines if the scan tool is reading that the Body Function Controller (BFC) is sending the proper voltage.
5. This step determines if the Body Function Controller (BFC) is actually sending the proper voltage.
6. This step determines if there is a short to ground between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Passlock(R) Sensor.
8. This step determines if there is an open in circuit 1459 between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Passlock(R) Sensor.
10. This step determines if there is a short to ground or open within the Passlock Sensor.
14. This step determines if there is a short to battery in circuit 1835 between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Passlock(R) Sensor.
16. This step determines if there is a short to ground in circuit 1835 between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Passlock(R) Sensor.
18. This step determines if there is an open in circuit 1835 between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Passlock(R) Sensor.
22. This step determines if there is the proper voltage between terminal A and Terminal B of the Passlock(R) Sensor.
23. This step determines if there is an open circuit in circuit 1836 between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Passlock Sensor.
