Wiring Schematic:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
This circuit supplies the Passlock(R) data to the Body Function Controller (BFC) from the Passlock(R) Sensor, circuit 1836.
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
All of the following conditions must be met:
^ The Passlock(R) option is enabled.
^ Ignition 0 is active.
^ The Passlock(R) code > 225 counts (in Monitor Passlock(R) Data State OR in Normal Decision State and Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Class 2 serial data message has been received indicating the fuel has been either continued or disabled ) for 1 second.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ The Body Function Controller (BFC) enters tamper mode.
^ Stores DTC B2958 in the Body Function Controller (BFC) memory.
^ The vehicle will not start or the vehicle will start and SECURITY indicator will illuminate.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ The Body Function Controller (BFC) goes to sleep and reinitializes with the fault cleared.
^ All Body Function Controller (BFC) history codes will be cleared after 100 ignition cycles (from OFF to RUN) with no current codes active during the 100 ignition cycles.
^ Using a scan tool.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ When the diagnostics direct you to take electrical measurements at the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks , refer to Power Distribution, in Electrical Diagnosis, for terminal assignments of the Wiring Harness Junction Blocks
^ If the DTC is a history DTC, the problem may be intermittent. Try performing the tests shown while wiggling wiring and connectors, this can often cause the malfunction to appear.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to the numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. This step determines if there is a short to battery in circuit 1836 between the Body Function Controller (BFC) and the Passlock(R) Sensor.
