6. Some Doors Do Not Lock/Unlock
CIRCUIT OPERATION
When the door lock actuator receives the lock or unlock signal from the ETACS-ECU, the actuator will lock or unlock the door.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
The cause may be a malfunction of the door lock rod connections or door lock actuator circuit.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the door lock actuator
- Damaged harness wires or connectors
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the door lock actuator operation.
1. Remove the door latch assembly.
2. Connect a battery directly to the door lock actuator terminals and check that the door lock actuator operation.
Front Door Lock Actuator [LH]
Front Door Lock Actuator [RH]
Rear Door Lock Actuator [LH]
Rear Door Lock Actuator [RH]
If the door lock actuator is faulty, repair it. Then go to Step 6.
If the front door lock actuator [LH] is not faulty, go to Step 2.
If the front door lock actuator [RH] is not faulty, go to Step 3.
If the rear door lock actuator [LH] is not faulty, go to Step 4.
If the rear door lock actuator [RH] is not faulty, go to Step 4.
STEP 2. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C~6 and front door lock actuator [LH] connector E-15.
1. Remove the ETACS-ECU.
2. Connect the connectors C-77 and C-78 to the junction block.
3. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and front door lock actuator [LH] connector E-15.
If any harness wire between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and front door lock actuator [LH] connector E-15 is damaged, repair it. Then go to Step 6.
If the harness wires are not damaged, replace the ETACS-ECU. Then go to Step 6.
NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-67, C-68, C-77 or C- 78, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-67, C-68, C-77 or C-78 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then go to Step 6.
STEP 3. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and front door lock actuator [RH] connector E-07.
1. Remove the ETACS-ECU.
2. Connect the connector C-78 to the junction block.
3. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and front door lock actuator [RH] connector E-07.
If any harness wire between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and front door lock actuator [RH] connector E-07 is damaged, repair it. Then go to Step 5.
If the harness wires are not damaged, replace the ETACS-ECU. Then go to Step 6.
NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-69, C-72, or C-78, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-69, C-72, or C-78 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then go to Step 6.
STEP 4. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and rear door lock actuator [LH] connector E-11.
1. Remove the ETACS-ECU.
2. Connect the connectors C-78 and C-84 to the junction block.
3. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and rear door lock actuator [LH] connector E-11.
If any harness wire between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and rear door lock actuator [LH] connector E-11 is damaged, repair it. Then go to Step 5.
If the harness wires are not damaged, replace the ETACS-ECU. Then go to Step 6.
NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-67 C- 78, C-84 or D-19 inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-67 C- 78, C-84 or D-19 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then go to Step 6.
STEP 5. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and rear door lock actuator [RH] connector E-10.
1. Remove the ETACS-ECU.
2. Connect the connector C-78 to the junction block.
3. Check the harness wires between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and rear door lock actuator [RH] connector E-10.
If any harness wire between ETACS-ECU connector C-86 and rear door lock actuator [RH] connector E-10 is damaged, repair it. Then go to Step 6.
If the harness wires are not damaged, replace the ETACS-ECU. Then go to Step 6.
NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-69, C-78 or D-07, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-69, C-78 or D-07 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
Then go to Step 6.
Step 6. Check symptoms
Confirm that the intermediate connectors, the harness wires, the door lock actuator and the ETACS-ECU are normal.
