Inspection Procedure 9
CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The door lock key cylinder switch sends a signal to the ETACS-ECU.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
- If the door lock key cylinder switch is in the unlock position while the theft-alarm is armed, the ETACS-ECU disarms the theft-alarm system.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the door lock key cylinder switch
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
- Malfunction of the FRONT-ECU
- Damaged harness wires and connectors
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the door lock key cylinder switch for continuity.
1. Remove the door lock key cylinder switch.
2. Disconnect the door lock key cylinder switch connector.
3. Operate the switch, and check the door lock key cylinder switch for continuity.
If there is continuity, go to Step 2.
If there is no continuity, replace the switch. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
STEP 2. Check the door lock key cylinder switch (LH) E-14 for damage.
If harness connector E-1 4 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
If harness connector E-14 is in good condition, go to Step 3.
STEP 3. Check that the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (LH) connector E-14 and ETACS-ECU C-81.
If the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (LH) E-14 and ETACS-ECU C-81 are damaged, repair them.
Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 4.
NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connectors C-67 and
C-68, inspect the wire. If intermediate connectors C-67 and C-68 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
STEP 4. Check the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (LH) E-14 and body ground.
If the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (LH) E-14 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 5.
STEP 5. Check door lock key cylinder switch (RH) E-06 for damage.
If harness connector E-06 is damaged, repair or replace it.
Refer to Harness Connector Inspection. If harness connector E-06 is in good condition, go to Step 6.
STEP 6. Check that the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (RH) connector E-06 and ETACS-ECU C-81.
If the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (RH) E-06 and ETACS-ECU C-81 are damaged, repair them.
Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 7.
NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connectors C-69 and C-72, inspect the wire. If intermediate connectors C-69 and C-72 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
STEP 7. Check the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (RH) E-06 and body ground.
If the harness wires between door lock key cylinder switch (RH) E-06 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 8.
STEP 8. Check symptoms.
Confirm that the theft-alarm system is disarmed when the door lock key cylinder switch is moved in the unlock position.
