Inspection Procedure 7







CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The theft-alarm horn is energized through the theft-alarm horn relay.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
- The theft-alarm horn relay is controlled by the ETACS-ECU.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the theft-alarm horn relay
- Malfunction of the theft-alarm horn
- Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check the theft-alarm horn relay for continuity.
1. Remove the theft-alarm horn relay.







2. Check the theft alarm relay for continuity.
If the theft-alarm horn relay is in good condition, go to Step
If the theft-alarm horn relay is faulty, replace it. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.




STEP 2. Check theft-alarm horn relay connector A-11X for damage.
If harness connector A-11X is damaged, repair or replace
it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
If harness connector A-11X is in good condition, go to Step 3.




STEP 3. Check the harness wire between theft-alarm horn relay connector A-11X and fusible link number 1.
If the harness wires between theft-alarm horn relay connector
A-11X and fusible link number 1 are damaged, repair them.
Then go to Step 4.









NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-66 and junction block connectors C-77, C-85, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-66 and junction block connectors C-77, C-85 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.




STEP 4. Check theft-alarm horn connector A-23 for damage.
If harness connector A-23 is damaged, repair or replace it.
Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.
If harness connector A-11X is in good condition, go to Step 5.







STEP 5. Check the harness wire between theft-alarm horn connector A-23 and theft-alarm horn relay connector A-11X.
If the harness wires between theft-alarm horn connector A-23 and theft-alarm horn relay connector A-11X are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated. If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 6.







STEP 6. Check the harness wire between theft-alarm horn relay connector A-11X and ETACS-ECU connector C-81.
If the harness wires between theft-alarm horn relay connector A-11x and ETACS-ECU connector C-81 are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 7.

STEP 7. Check symptoms.
Confirm that the theft-alarm horn sounds.
