Inspection Procedure 5







CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The trunk lid latch switch sends the (latch open or closed) signal to the ETACS-ECU.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
- The ETACS-ECU accepts a signal from the theft-alarm system when the trunk lid latch switch is in the lock position.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the trunk lid latch switch
- Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS







STEP 1. Check the trunk lid latch switch for continuity.
Disconnect trunk lid latch switch connector F-21 and check the trunk lid latch switch for continuity.
If trunk lid latch switch is in good condition, go to Step 2.
If trunk lid latch switch is faulty, replace it




STEP 2. Check trunk lid latch switch connector F-21 for damage.
If harness connector F-21 is damaged, repair or replace it. If harness connector F-21 is in good condition, go to Step 3.







STEP 3. Check the harness wires between trunk lid latch switch connector F-21 and ETACS-ECU connector C-81
If the harness wires between trunk lid latch switch and ETACS-ECU are damaged, repair them, Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wire are in good condition, go to Step 4.









NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connectors F-16 and C-67, inspect the wire. If intermediate connectors F-16 and C-67 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.




STEP 4. Check the harness wires between trunk lid latch switch connector F-21 and body ground.
If the harness wires between trunk lid latch switch connector F-21 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 5.






NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector F-16, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector F-16 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.

STEP 5. Check symptoms
Confirm that the trunk lid latch switch sends a correct signal to the ETACS-ECU.
