Inspection Procedure 3

CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The door switch sends a signal to the ETACS-ECU.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
- The ETACS-ECU accepts a signal from the theft-alarm system when all of the doors are closed.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the door switch(es)
- Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSES

STEP 1. Check the door switch for continuity.
1. Remove the door switch.

2. Check for continuity at the door switch terminals.
If there is continuity, go to Step 2.
If there is no continuity, replace the switch. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.

STEP 2. Check front door switch connector (LH) D-21 for damage.
If harness connector D-21 is damaged, repair or replace it.
Refer to Harness Connection Inspection. If harness connector D-21 is in good condition, go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the harness wires between front door switch connector (LH) D-21 and ETACS-ECU connector C-86.
If the harness wires between the front door switch and the ETACS-ECU are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 4.

NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-67 and junction block connector C-87 inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-67 and junction block connector C-87 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.

STEP 4. Check the harness wires between front door switch connector D-21 and body ground.
If the harness wires between front door switch connector D-21 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check rear door switch connector (LH) F-14 for damage.
If harness connector F-14 is damaged, repair or replace it.
Refer to Harness Connection Inspection. If harness connector F-14 is in good condition, go to
Step 6.

STEP 6. Check the harness wires between rear door switch connector (LH) F-14 and ETACS-ECU connector C-86.
If the harness wires between the rear door switch and the ETACS-ECU are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 7.

NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-67 and junction block connector C-87, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-67 and junction block connector C-87 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.

STEP 7. Check the harness wires between rear door switch connector (LH) F-14 and body ground.
If the harness wires between rear door switch connector (LH) F-14 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 8.

STEP 8. Check front door switch connector (RH) D-08 for damage.
If harness connector D-08 is damaged, repair or replace it.
Refer to Harness Connection Inspection.
If harness connector D-08 is in good condition, go to Step 9.

STEP 9. Check the harness wires between front door switch connector (RH) D-08, ETACS-ECU connectors C-81 and C-86.
If the harness wires between front door switch (RH) and ETACS-ECU are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 10.

NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connectors C-69, C-71 and junction block connector C-78, inspect the wire. If intermediate connectors C-69, C-71 and junction block connector C-78 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.

STEP 10. Check the harness wires between front door switch connector (RH) D-08 and body ground.
If the harness wires between front door switch connector (RH) D-08 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 11.

STEP 11. Check rear door switch connector (RH) F-08 for damage.
If harness connector F-08 is damaged, repair or replace it.
Refer to Harness Connection Inspection. If harness connector F-08 is in good condition, go to Step 12.

STEP 12. Check the harness wires between rear door switch connector (RH) F-08 and ETACS-ECU connector C-86.
If the harness wires between the rear door switch (RH) and the ETACS-ECU are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 13.

NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-71 and junction block connector C-78, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-71 and junction block connector C-78 are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.

STEP 13. Check the harness wires between rear door switch connector (RH) F-08 and body ground.
If the harness wires between rear door switch connector (RH) F-08 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, replace the ETACS-ECU and then go to Step 14.

STEP 14. Check symptoms.
Confirm that all the door switches send correct signals to the ETACS-ECU.
