Inspection Procedure 2







CIRCUIT OPERATION
- The hood switch sends a signal to the ETACS-ECU.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
- The ETACS-ECU accepts a signal from the theft-alarm system when the hood switch is off (when the hood is closed).

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the hood switch
- Damaged harness wires and connectors

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check the hood switch for continuity.
1. Disconnect the hood switch connector







2. Operate the switch, and check the hood switch for continuity.
If there is continuity, go to Step 2.
If there is no continuity, replace the switch. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.




STEP 2. Check hood switch connector A-25 for damage.
If harness connector A-25 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness connector Inspection.
If harness connector A-25 is in good condition, go to Step 3.







STEP 3. Check the harness wires between key hood switch connector A-25 and ETACS-ECU connector C-81.
If the harness wires between hood switch connector A-25 and ETACS-ECU connector C-81 are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, go to Step 4.




STEP 4. Check the harness wires between hood switch connector A-25 and body ground.
If the harness wires between hood switch connector A-25 and body ground are damaged, repair them. Check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wires are in good condition, replace the ETACS-ECU and then go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check symptoms.
Confirm that the hood switch operates normally.
