1. Check connections of electrical connectors for EGR position sensor, repairing or replacing as necessary.
2. If connections are satisfactory, check resistance of EGR position sensor. Refer to ``Component Testing.''
3. If resistance is not within specifications, replace EGR position sensor.
4. If resistance is within specifications, check voltage at ``A'' terminal of EGR position sensor connector.
5. If voltage is not 4.5-5.5 volts, check for open or short circuit in the wiring harness from ``A'' terminal to EGI control unit.
6. If voltage is 4.5-5.5 volts, check voltage at ``2F'' terminal of EGI control unit.
7. If voltage is greater than 4.5 volts, check for open circuit in wiring harness of ground or open circuit in wiring harness from ``C'' terminal to ``2F'' terminal of EGI control unit.
8. If there is no voltage, there is short circuit in wiring harness from ``C'' terminal to ``2F'' terminal of EGI control unit or EGI control unit is defective.
9. If voltage is .23-1.1 volts, EGI control unit is defective.
