Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION [MZI-3.7]
Airflow Inspection
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Removal and Replacement
2. Disconnect the quick release connector from the purge solenoid valve. Service and Repair
3. Remove the purge solenoid valve. Service and Repair
4. Verify that the airflow is as indicated in the table.
- If as specified in the table, perform the "Circuit Open/Short Inspection".
- If not as specified in the table, inspect the purge solenoid valve.
Circuit Open/Short Inspection
1. Disconnect the PCM connector.
2. Inspect the following wiring harness for an open or short circuit (continuity check).
Open circuit
- If there is no continuity, the circuit is open. Repair or replace the harness.
- Purge solenoid valve terminal A and main relay No.1 terminal D
- Purge solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 2H
Short circuit
- If there is continuity, the circuit is short. Repair or replace the harness.
- Purge solenoid valve terminal A and power supply
- Purge solenoid valve terminal A and body ground
- Purge solenoid valve terminal B and power supply
- Purge solenoid valve terminal B and body ground
