Removal and Replacement




STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

CAUTION:
- Performing the following procedures without first removing the ABS wheel-speed sensor may possibly cause an open circuit in the harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before performing the following procedures, remove the ABS wheel-speed sensor (axle side) and fix it to an appropriate place where the sensor will not be pulled by mistake while servicing the vehicle.
- Secure the steering wheel using tape or a cable to prevent the steering shaft from rotating after disconnecting the steering shaft. If the steering wheel rotates after the steering shaft and the steering gear and linkage are disconnected, the internal parts of the clock spring could be damaged.

1. Drain the power steering fluid. Testing and Inspection

2. Remove the front under cover A and front under cover B. Front Under Cover Removal/Installation

3. Remove the middle pipe. Service and Repair

4. Remove the transverse member. Front Suspension - Transverse Member Removal/Installation

5. Remove the front crossmember, steering gear and linkage component. Front Suspension - Crossmember Removal/Installation

6. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

8. After installation, adjust the total toe-in. Front Wheel Alignment









Steering Gear and Linkage Installation Note

1. Tighten the mounting bracket bolts to the specified torque in the order shown.






Tightening torque
- 96.9-136.0 Nm {9.89-13.86 kgf-m, 71.5-100.3 ft-lbf}
