Pinpoint Test F: DTC C1A67:81, C1A67:96 Or C1A67:98
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 31, Speed Control for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
NOTE: The speed control sensor is also known as the forward looking sensor.
Normal Operation
The adaptive cruise control system is enabled when the vehicle speed is set and the speed control sensor, which is a radar unit, determines the distance and relative speed of the vehicle that is in the path of travel. The Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) receives the speed control sensor input over a dedicated Controller Area Network (CAN). The C-CM monitors the yaw rate signal from the ABS module over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) and compares it to the yaw rate signal from the speed control sensor. Voltage is supplied to the speed control sensor from the C-CM on circuit CMF10 (GN). Ground is provided to the speed control sensor on circuit GD123 (BK).
- DTC C1A67:81 (Forward Looking Sensor: Invalid Serial Data Received) - sets when the C-CM receives invalid data from the speed control sensor.
- DTC C1A67:96 (Forward Looking Sensor: Component Internal Failure) - sets when the C-CM detects an internal failure in the speed control sensor.
- DTC C1A67:98 (Forward Looking Sensor: Component Or System Over Temperature) - sets when the C-CM detects a component or system over-temperature failure internal to the speed control sensor.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- ABS concern
- Speed control sensor
PINPOINT TEST F: DTC C1A67:81, C1A67:96 OR C1A67:98
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
-------------------------------------------------
F1 CHECK THE DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND ON-DEMAND C-CM SELF-TESTS
- Check the C-CM DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
- Is DTC C1A67:96 or DTC C1A67:98 recorded?
Yes
GO to F3.
No
For DTC C1A67:81 GO to F2. Otherwise, REFER to DTC Charts.
-------------------------------------------------
F2 CHECK FOR ABS MODULE DTCs
- Check the ABS module DTCs from the continuous and on-demand self-tests.
- Are any ABS module DTCs recorded?
Yes
REFER to Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems to continue diagnosis of the ABS. Testing and Inspection
No
GO to F3.
-------------------------------------------------
F3 RETEST ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM
- Clear the C-CM DTCs.
- Test drive the vehicle and activate the adaptive cruise control system.
- Carry out the C-CM continuous and on-demand self-tests.
- Is DTC C1A67:81, C1A67:96 or C1A67:98 recorded?
Yes
INSTALL a new speed control sensor. REFER to Speed Control Sensor Service and Repair. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
