Water Pump: Service and Repair

Removal and Installation
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the engine cooling fan and fan shroud.
3. Remove the drive belt.





4. Remove the bolts in the sequence shown, and the water pump pulley.





5. Remove the bolts in the sequence shown, and the water pump.
6. Wipe the water pump mounting surface with a soft cloth if necessary.

7. CAUTION: Do not rotate the water pump housing once installed in the engine. Damage to the O-ring seal can occur, causing the water pump to leak.

NOTE: Install a new O-ring seal and lubricate with engine coolant. Use the same type of coolant that was drained from the engine.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
