SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SPIRAL CABLE: REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
NOTICE:
* w/ Navigation System:
After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

* When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
2. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the steering wheel assembly Removal.
3. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal
4. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal
5. REMOVE SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.
NOTICE:
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(b) Detach the 3 claws and remove the spiral cable.
NOTICE:
* Do not replace the spiral cable sub-assembly when the engine switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
* Do not rotate the spiral cable when the engine switch is ON and the battery cable is connected.
* Make sure the steering wheel is installed and centered before rotating the steering angle sensor when performing steering angle sensor operation inspections (inspecting for abnormal noise, diagnosis inspections, etc.).
* Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
