Disassembly

DOOR / HATCH: TAIL GATE: DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH Removal

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE:
- w/ Navigation System:
After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

3. REMOVE REAR FLOOR MAT REAR SUPPORT PLATE Removal

4. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH






(a) Remove the back door trim cover LH as shown in the illustration.
5. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER RH






(a) Remove the back door trim cover RH as shown in the illustration.
6. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY






(a) Remove the 4 bolts.
(b) Detach the 16 clips and remove the back door trim panel.
7. REMOVE REAR BUMPER COVER
(a) Remove the bumper cover Removal.
8. REMOVE SPARE TIRE
9. REMOVE LOWER BACK DOOR TORSION BAR ASSEMBLY






(a) Remove the 4 bolts and lower back door torsion bar.
10. REMOVE BACK DOOR TORSION BAR GUIDE






(a) Detach the 2 claws and remove the back door torsion bar guide.
11. REMOVE BACK DOOR INSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY






(a) Remove the screw and back door inside handle.
12. REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH






(a) Detach the 4 clips and remove the back door garnish.
13. REMOVE LOWER TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY RH
(a) w/o Power Back Door:





(1) Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 3 screws and lower tail gate lock.





(2) Disconnect the cable from the lower tail gate lock.
(b) w/ Power Back Door:





(1) Disconnect the connector.





(2) Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 4 screws and lower tail gate lock.
14. REMOVE BACK DOOR REMOTE CONTROL ASSEMBLY
(a) w/o Power Back Door:





(1) Remove the back door handle grommet.





(2) Remove the 2 screws.





(3) Disconnect the left side cable.
(4) Remove the back door remote control.
(b) w/ Power Back Door:





(1) Disconnect the connector.
(2) Remove the 2 screws and back door remote control.





(3) Remove the back door handle grommet.
15. REMOVE LOWER TAIL GATE LOCK ASSEMBLY LH
(a) w/o Power Back Door:





(1) Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 3 screws and lower tail gate lock.
(b) w/ Power Back Door:





(1) Disconnect the connector.





(2) Using a T30 "TORX" wrench, remove the 4 screws and lower tail gate lock.
16. REMOVE NO. 2 BACK DOOR GARNISH SUB-ASSEMBLY OUTSIDE

17. REMOVE TAIL GATE STAY SUB-ASSEMBLY LH






(a) Using a T40 "TORX" socket, remove the 2 screws and tail gate stay.
18. REMOVE TAIL GATE STAY SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

19. REMOVE BACK DOOR DAMPER ASSEMBLY






(a) Remove the bolt and back door damper.
