B2115
DTC B2115 REAR DEFOG RELAY FAILUREComponent Location:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
RAM is a component of BCM that consists of DDM, ADM, IPM, FAM, IMS and cluster module. Each part of BCM is connected to one another through CAN communication line for efficient communication. Those modules control front/rear, driver/passenger seat, cluster with electrical signal and they share information with other modules. RAM(Rear Area Module)& up at rear-left of passenger room controls various rear lamps (tail lamp, rear turn signal lamp, backup lamp, stop lamp, cabin lamp), window (sliding door power window, quarter glass, rear defogger), rear wiper and oil cap door. Received aircon control module rear defogger signal from IPM through CAN line, RAM controls rear defogger.
DTC DESCRIPTION
B2115 is set when open/short in rear defogger circuit or relay failure is detected.
DTC Detecting Condition:
MONITOR DTC STATUS
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".
3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter
4. Is the DTC B2115 present?
YES - Go to "Inspection & Repair" procedure.
NO - Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION
1. Electrical systems consist of a lot of harness and connectors, poor connection of terminals can cause various problems and damage of component.
2. Check poor connection, beding, corrosion, contamination, deformation of connector and it terminals.
3. Is any problem found?
YES - Repair if necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
NO - Go to W/Harness Inspection.
SIGNAL CIRCUIT INSPECTION
1. Check open in power circuit
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Measure the resistance between rear defogger power circuit connector terminal at RAM side (BEC-RR-8) and rear defogger (R06-1).
Specification : 0 Ohms
3. Is the measured resistance within the specification?
YES - Go to "Check short in power circuit".
NO - Repair open in power circuit and Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
2. Check short in power circuit
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Disconnect rear defogger.
3. Measure the resistance between rear defogger power circuit connector terminal at RAM side (BEC-RR-8) and rear defogger (R06-1).
Specification : Infinity Ohms
4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?
YES - Go to "Component Inspection".
NO - Repair open in power circuit and Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
COMPONENT INSPECTION
1. Check rear defogger
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Check if DTC is erased after replacing defogger with "defogger for test".
4. Is the DTC erased?
YES - Replace "defogger for test" with "new defogger" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
NO - Go to "Check RAM".
2. Check RAM
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Check if DTC is erased after replacing RAM with "RAM for test"
4. Is the DTC erased?
YES - Replace "RAM for test" with "new RAM" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
NO - Check connecting condition of connector and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Connect scantool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and then clear DTC.
2. Operate the vehicle within DTC Enable conditions in General information.
3. Are any DTCs present?
YES - Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure.
NO - System is performing to specification at this time.
