Heater Core Case Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Drain the engine cooling system.
3. Remove the center console. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Console, Service and Repair, Console Replacement

4. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard / Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Service and Repair

5. Remove the heater hoses.
6. If the vehicle has air conditioning, recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Disconnect the refrigerant lines at the expansion valve. Install plugs in, or tape over, all of the open refrigerant fittings.
7. Remove the heater/evaporator housing side cover.
8. Remove the heater core.
9. Remove the defroster duct.
10. Disconnect the vacuum hoses from the heater core housing vacuum motors
11. Remove the housing retaining nuts in the engine compartment. Remove the heater housing.

INSTALLATION

1. Install the heater housing retaining nuts in the engine copartment.
2. Install the vacuum hoses.
3. Install the defroster duct.
4. Install the heater core.
5. Install the heater/evaporator housing side cover.
6. Install the heater hoses.
7. If the vehicle has air conditioning, unplug the refrigerant fitting and install the refrigerant lines to the expansion valve. Evacuate and charge the refrigerant system.
8. Install the instrument panel. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard / Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Service and Repair

9. Install the center console. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Console, Service and Repair, Console Replacement

10. Connect the battery negative cable.
11. Fill the engine cooling system.
