Canister Purge Solenoid: Service and Repair




Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Raise and support the vehicle only high enough to access the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve through the wheelhouse. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the left wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.




3. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures in order to disconnect the following from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve (3):

* The EVAP purge hose/pipe
* The EVAP purge hose (1)




4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




5. Remove the bolt securing EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to the engine.
6. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve from the engine.

Installation Procedure




1. Position the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to the engine.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the bolt securing EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to the engine.

Tighten the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb in).




3. Connect the electrical connector to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve.




4. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures in order to connect the following to the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve (3):

* The EVAP purge hose/pipe
* The EVAP purge hose (1)

5. Install the left wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement.
6. Lower the vehicle.
